The Love of God

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"
(1 Corinthians 2:9)

God's love is limitless, boundless, unprejudiced, unconditional, uncontainable, irrepressible, unfailing, undefeatable, unassailable, indescribable, infinite and incomprehensible.

And when you see it, it is irresistable !

Believe it or not, you are lovely to God and he thinks you are irresistable, too.

I am in the middle of writing a book about Letting God love you. Feel free to email me if you have any thoughts about these things.

A pastor from San Diego, California called Ken Blue was in Sydney for a Grace & Healing conference in 1999. He talked about the foundation of God's love in a meeting for leaders before the main conference. The full talk this was taken from is worth reading.

One of my favourite people is Jack Deere. His favourite theme to preach on is passion for Jesus. In John 17:26 Jesus prays the most amazing prayer: "I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them ..." Jesus actually prayed that we would love him like the Father loves him ! But Jesus never prayed anything the Father wasn't going to answer . . .

I can also recommend a book by Mike Bickle called Passion for Jesus, which has a similar theme. Sam Storms has also written a book about the love of God called God's passion for you based on one of my favourite verses in the Bible:

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17)

Here are some letters posted to the new-wine mailing list to do with God's love:

The Bridegroom by Lani Langlais
Email from God by Kathie Tollifson

Spread The Fire magazine also has some great articles to do with the love of God:

My glimpse of his glory by Melinda Fish
The Father's Love by Ed Piorek

Often we feel uncomfortable about something in the Bible because it sounds like God might have a mean side and not be so loving after all. It is very important to look at these things instead of ignoring them, because if it stays in the back of your mind as a doubt about his love for you, you will not feel safe enough to draw near to him. Here are a few articles on things we sometimes don't like to think about:

The vision by Don Cobble - rewards at the judgement seat of Christ
The secret sin by Jim Rapalje - God's mercy and desire to free us from our concealed sins

And this is just a story that I liked by Ruth Peterson about a little girl.
